Primer for an Impossible Conversation premieres on February 23, 2021 presented by MCA Chicago’s Annual Dialogue Series. Primer… continues the conversation begun in their Obie-Award winning Distances Smaller Than Than This Are Not Confirmed.

Taking inspiration from one of David & Marcella's initial starting points for Distances, Primer will examine, elaborate, and respond to a Charlie Rose interview with Octavia Butler where race, privilege, and science fiction become lenses into the larger (fraught) cultural conversation and painful histories that play out in a largely white supremacist world. The challenges in trying to connect while socially distant are profound, ridiculous, and inspiring.
